Virta Diabetes and Obesity Treatment
Virta is a research-backed, nutrition-based treatment to reverse type 2 diabetes and prediabetes without calorie-cutting, surgery, or additional medications. Patients receive treatment through a smartphone app and are supervised by medical staff as they lower their A1c levels, eliminate diabetes medications, and lose weight.
The Plan covers the full cost of Virta for you and your eligible family members with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes. Virta is also covered for those with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater who are looking for safe and sustainable weight loss.
Treatment includes:
- A provider-led care team
- A personal health coach
- Diabetes testing supplies
- Ketone and bodyweight tracking tools
- On-demand resources such as videos and games, a library of guides, recipes, and food options for any dietary preference
- Access to a private online patient community

Eligibility
Virta is available to the National Elevator Industry Health Benefit Plan members and eligible dependents between the ages of 18 and 79.
Eligible members include active members, self-pay (e.g., COBRA, laid-off employees) participants, non-Medicare retirees, Medicare-eligible retirees, and their eligible dependents.
Note: There are some medical conditions that would exclude patients from the Virta treatment. Start the application process now to find out if you qualify.
